Samantha & Alex

A Real Wedding at Seville Golf & Country Club

How did you two meet or how did you propose?: We both attended the same elementary, middle, and high school. Even though we were each others prom date our senior year, we went our separate ways for college. We kept in touch over ‘Facebook’, but our real journey didn’t start until the winter of 2010. I was out for a late jog burning off the Holiday sweets I consumed, when a car pulled out behind a sketchy building. I picked up my pace and kept my eyes on the ground. I noticed the car door was opening, which caused me to start looking for other cars within the vicinity. I finally gave in and looked at the person who was actually waving at me. I slowed down to find out it was Alex. We gave each a quick hello hug, and then grabbed coffee the following morning. We dated almost 4 years before he proposed, on a hill overlooking the entire La Jolla coast line with a cross in the background in remembrance of Veterans, and the one person that kept us together through the toughest of times, God.

Were you happy with it?: Finding a venue that would host the ceremony outside, reception inside, and had beautiful view of the desert was difficult. I gave up for a while, but came across with Seville Golf & Country Club and immediately fell in love. To be honest, I did not even see the venue before committing to have our wedding there. Our friend went out and met with the wedding coordinator. She took a ton of pictures, and sent them to us. Two days later we decided our forever after would begin there! We were more than happy with the venue! It met every expectation and more! Beautiful scenery, accommodating staff, and excellent food!

Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:  Both of our favorite color is light blue, which was the main color along with silver. We wanted to obtain an elegant feeling, but not too fancy where ‘fun’ is not allowed ;). Alex is in the military, and we incorporated a lot of anchors throughout the wedding (sword arch, Top Gun serenade, butt tap from sword welcoming me into the navy, Alex white navy uniform, guest book was an anchor, anchor on napkins). Flowers are not my favorite, and they block the view of people on the other side of the table. We decided to have three different heights of vases with diamonds on the bottom filled with water, and a floating candle on top. We accented with silver chargers, and light blue napkins that held our wedding favors (glass coasters with ‘LOVE' on them). The chairs were an off white, and had a light blue ribbon tied around them., which matched the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen ties.

What piece of advice would you give other couples planning their big day?: If something goes wrong, don’t sweat over it just keep enjoying your day! My bustle broke on my wedding dress, but I moved on and held my dress for the rest of the night. Didn’t stop me from dancing! (Something will go wrong, trust me, but continue on...it is your one and only wedding day!) Plan a wedding that you AND your guests can enjoy! For me, family is very important, and I wanted to incorporate my guests into every aspect of my wedding. Looking back I wish the night was longer…and had more hours to enjoy time with the entire wedding party and guests!

Tell us about your photographer. Why did you choose this photographer? Were you happy with the whole experience? : I chose Still Life because of their pictures they showed me at a wedding event Seville hosted prior to the wedding. I originally had another photography, but wanted Still Life! They took amazing quality pictures, wanted to make the bride happy, and their interest was on making our day special! We were very pleased with our photos! Everyone turned out wonderful! And they made sure both the bride and groom were situated properly in every single photo! Plus, there were willing to lean over above the water in order to get the shot! (thankfully no one fell in the water!)
