Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia
1. How did you two meet or how did he propose?: We met at Toby Keith's Bar & Grill in Mesa, AZ in July of 2012. David was there with his Fraternity brother, Kristopher, who also happens to be my brother. That night I ended up putting my number in David's phone and said, "You should ask me to dinner." Our first date was 2 days later. David proposed on March 28th, 2015 - one week prior to the engagement, he had met with my father to ask for his blessing. David wanted to make sure that I would be surprised so he asked a couple of my good friends to make sure that the proposal went according to plan and to also help capture the special moment. The plan – While walking from Bootleggers in Old Town Scottsdale to a Dodgers spring training game, we would pass the Old Adobe Mission; next door to The Mission where we had our first date, and down the street from our first apartment. After stopping in front of the Old Adobe Mission, he dropped to a knee and told me that he “knew without a sliver of a doubt that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.” With that, he asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!
2. How did you find your venue? Were you happy with it?: We only looked at one venue while planning our wedding and that was the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia. We both knew right away that this is where we had to get married because of their breathtaking grounds and beautiful views of Camelback Mountain. Looking back, we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else as it truly was the best day of our lives.
3. Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception: We wanted a classic romantic garden feel to our wedding. The color scheme we chose was ivory, dark wood, pale blush, and champagne with gold and white accents throughout. All of our florals were white, ivory & blush with lots of silver dollar eucalyptus and smilax garland. Our main goal while planning the wedding was for our guests to have fun from the moment they arrived until the moment they left. We included instrumental versions of classic rock songs during our prelude, custom koozies, a beer burro & corn hole (bags) during cocktail hour. Classic rock and 90’s music played throughout the reception as our guests enjoyed our custom drinks, hers a Moscow Mule, his a Kilt Lifter.
4. What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day?: The biggest piece of advice that we could give to brides is to take a deep breath, don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy every minute because your wedding day goes by faster than you ever could imagine!
