Wedding Hashtag Inspiration – Get inspired and create your own!

wedding hashtags

You might think wedding hashtags are super cheesy, but there’s a reason why they’ve become so popular! And trust me when I say this, wedding hashtags are here to stay. Not only are they a great way to share photos and videos with your guests, they’re also a way to look back on those memories simply by searching the hashtag online.

Get your wedding hashtag inspiration below and create yours today!

But first, you have to choose a unique wedding hashtag… preferably one that hasn’t been done before. Otherwise, you will be sharing the same hashtag with someone else’s wedding! Think of it as one big online photo album, where all of your friends and family can contribute by using the hashtag. You wouldn’t want random people popping up in your personal wedding album because they used your #hashtag? So be different, and think outside the box. Test it out, do a quick IG search to see if it’s already been used! If not, then you’ve landed on a solid option!

1. Brainstorm as much as you can on a piece of paper

Write down both of your first and last names. Maybe even write a brief 3-4 words about how you met. Think about the location you are having the wedding… is it a destination? You could even include a word or two about the theme of your wedding! Write down anything and everything that is relevant to your relationship as a couple.

3. Alliteration & Rhyme

Now you can start thinking of the words & phrases that work with your first / last names! Think alliteration and rhyme. Alliteration occurs with the same letter or sound at the beginning of multiple words (ie. Mysterious Magician, Pretty in Pink). Keep in mind: when rhyming, it is safe to choose words that don’t exactly sound the same but are similar enough. (ie. “Hitched to a Finch”)

4. Choose something Punny – wedding hashtag inspiration

The best wedding hashtags are the ones that make people laugh. The idea is to choose something that is memorable and easy for others to look up. The more memorable the hashtag, the more guests are going to want to use it. Here are a couple Punny examples:  #TilDeathDoUsHart  #YouMayNowKraussTheBride

5. Use It Immediately

As soon as you’ve got your hashtag, start using it right away! Tag your photos and videos from bridal showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and all of the events leading up to the big day. This also establishes your hashtag’s presence on social media. Remember: it is possible for someone else to start using your hashtag… but hey, at least you can say you claimed it first!!

Now that you’re feeling crafty! Use your wedding hashtag inspiration and create a couple options – make a fun evening of it and choose the best one with your partner!
