Ryan and Caitlin

Andaz Real Wedding

1. How did you two meet or what was the proposal like?:
We met online on a dating app (Bumble). In this app, if you “match”, the female has to reach out first, and you have 24 hours to do so. I had NOT been on my app the weekend our match happened so Ryan used the one extension men get to give me an extra 24 hours to respond. Hour 47 of 48 I thankfully logged on to see Ryan’s handsome face, and  just before our match would have gone away forever - I said hello! The rest is history.

Our proposal was incredible, I still get butterflies thinking about it. We were in the middle of buying a house and Ryan told me he got the garage code from the previous home owners so we could pick out our new carpet in the actual space. I truly thought we were picking out carpet so i was debating between two samples when he called me into the kitchen to show me something on the counter. It was boarding passes , one was a proposal and one was a ticket to go on a trip to plan our wedding! I couldn’t even believe what I was seeing and didn’t really put it together, until I turned around to him down on one knee! I love that new chapter started in our first house together, where we will be spending many years creating memories as a family! We then played out what was supposed to be our first date (last minute he scored Thomas Rhett tickets so we never actually did the first date we had planned until our engagement day) We then celebrated with all of our friends and family at a surprise engagement party Ryan coordinated.

2. Were you happy with the venue?:
Andaz Scottsdale was an outstanding venue- it was even better than we could have imagined. We were able to stay on site, host our welcome party, ceremony, reception and enjoy the pool/property with our guests. George was incredible to work with and we truly felt like family every time we came to visit/plan. We have nothing but good things to say about the entire team at Andaz. We can’t wait to spend our anniversaries there, remembering our perfect wedding day!

3. Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:
Our color scheme was blue, pale blush, pops of green and gold. We went for a modern boho theme, to compliment both Ryan & I’s personalities/preferences. We loved our end result and it was exactly us.

Our table settings we kept simple. Andaz is so beautiful already - it doesn’t need much. For reception, we held it outside on Albers Lawn. we had bistro lights hanging above us in between the palm trees. We did grey tablecloths with ivory napkins. We placed gold chargers on the table settings with a blush menu tucked into the napkins and a sprig of greenery within his napkin. 5 tables included greenery, votives, table numbers  for the centerpieces. Five tables includes a medium compote of flowers with votives and table numbers. We chose to do a sweetheart table for just Ryan and I instead of a head table, and I would highly recommend this! It was nice to have some down time with just the two of us during dinner.

4. What piece of advice would you give other couples planning their big day?
Hire a coordinator. Keep yourself organized so your stress doesn’t get the best of you or take away from your experience or wedding day. Utilize your resources, try not to sweat the little details- it truly all works out the way it’s supposed to! Most importantly, remember the reason you’re going through all of it in the first place, to marry the love of your life! If you keep this forefront of your mind, nothing else seems to matter as much.
