Megan and Sam

Classic Wedding at Troon North Golf Cub

1. How did you two meet and what was the proposal like?: We met in a very millennial way- Bumble

Our Proposal:
Originally Sam had plans to propose on Michael's rooftop, but rain the day-of shuttered those plans and Sam improvised. After covertly discussing plans with family and friends, Sam sent a text telling Megan that Michael had received a promotion and that his wife Leah was throwing him a surprise dinner at a restaurant located in Central Park that night.

Waiting for Megan to get home, Sam asked Megan to "freshen-up, but quickly". People were standing in the cold, and Megan is wont to take her time when getting ready. Finally, they set out to walk to the restaurant. Along the way, Sam suggested that they walk by the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, an area they had walked through a few weeks earlier. As they approached the nearly empty terrace, music could be heard echoing from inside the tiled walls. Their surroundings came into focus and Megan caught sight of a small, very blonde boy running across the terrace. This boy looked strikingly similar to Sam's nephew and appeared to be accompanied by several familiar faces.

As Meg was processing the scene, Sam turned to her and said, "I think it's safe to say now that there's no surprise dinner." Then, with the help of his always charming nephew, the two of them asked Megan if she would marry Sam. The answer was a resounding yes.

2. Were you happy with the venue? Absolutely! Troon was a dream come true. So perfect in fact, that I settled on the venue having only seen it via FaceTime. Ania made the entire process painless and enjoyable. She was prompt in responding to e-mails, available to meet, and in providing opinions and insight without overstepping. She was an abundance of information not just regarding the venue but also wedding planning as a whole.

3. Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception: Dark green, olive green, cream, and gold

We used alternating short and tall centerpieces throughout our guest tables. Our incredible florist used ruscus, varieties of eucalyptus, white snap dragons and cream roses.

4. What piece of advice would you give other couples planning their big day? There are so many decisions to be made on your wedding day, once you make a decision be done with it and move on. Don’t waste your time or worries on wondering if you made the right choice or thinking “if only”. Whatever you choose let it be a reflection of you. Let yourself be comfortable with decision and soak in the experience. Don’t try to tackle everything at once, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and don’t be afraid to break tradition.
