Capital Canyon DIY

How did you two meet or how did he propose?:
We met in September 2012 while we were both attending the University of Arizona. While we never met each other on campus, we worked together at a dog and cat boarding facility. We bonded over our love of animals and having to work under stressful situations together. We became good friends and that developed into a relationship. In July of 2016, just before we were preparing to move across the state from Tucson to the Prescott area, he casually pulled out a ring and proposed before leaving for work. It was perfect and I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Were you happy with the venue?:
We loved our venue. It’s natural beauty and style made decorating easy and we were able to capture the feel we wanted for our big day. Capital Canyon Club was able to provide a lot of what we needed so it reduced much of our stress during planning.

Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:
We wanted to keep it simple and casual since we decided to do as much DIY as possible to keep the cost down. Blue is both of our favorite colors so that was the obvious choice for us. Sunflowers seemed to represent our joy and added a pop of color that felt like summer to us. We wanted something that was casual and leaned toward a traditional wedding, but we added little pieces of our personality and interests through things like our cake topper.

What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day?
Stay true to yourselves and what you want. If something doesn’t go as planned, the only person who will know is you. Enjoy every minute you can, because most of your time is spent planning!
