How did you meet?
On an unexpected night in San Francisco Lindsay met up with her usual posse of friends at a local bar no one had ever been to. As usual, she was late and it was a good thing because her good friend Rachel was already immersed in conversation with a group of guys. Rachel was fascinated with one of the guys cell phones (a fancy new product at the time called an "iPhone") and Lindsay noticed his friend, sitting in the shadows, quiet and mysterious. That man was Craig. It might have been his sweet, young and innocent demeanor she fell for or maybe it was that he pulled out a Michigan drivers license when she jokingly tried to I.D. him. She had been looking for her Prince Charming for years, hoping he would be from Michigan since those boys have the best values and morals. From that moment on, the two were inseparable. Even though they lived 3 hours away, Craig made the long journey weekly on his motorcycle to visit Lindsay. Bobbie, Lindsay's mom recalls Lindsay calling just a few weeks after meeting Craig and saying, "I just really like him. A lot."
Tell us about your venue.
The venue was perfect for our own personalities. We have just moved here from San Francisco and are in "relax" desert mode, so since our wedding was a destination wedding for all of our guests (about 80 flew in from all over the country) we wanted to make sure everyone could relax and have time to hang out. When we came across The Carefree Resort, it was perfect. We threw the rehearsal dinner, wedding, cocktail hour and morning after brunch all within the resort but used different locations for each event. That way people could just enjoy being on a mini vacation instead of worrying about how to get from one event to the next. Everyone said it was the best wedding they have ever seen, even the waitstaff were blown away at how much love was in the air. We kept hearing, "I've seen over 200 weddings, but never anything like this before." That's exactly what we wanted!
Describe the theme and color scheme of your wedding.
We wanted to play off of the natural surrounding of Carefree, AZ and stuck to earth tones. We kept everything very rustic and elegant. All of the details were done by Stoke Interactive including: invitations, menus, place settings, programs, signs (wooden signs with burned letters everywhere), table numbers, chuppah, katubah, cake stand, flyers, welcome bags/content... everything was branded for Lindsay + Craig aka Lu + Cru. We worked really hard on making everything very personal, but keeping the rustic feel of the environment. The flowers were all made up of desert flowers, succulents and sticks found around Arizona. Lots of candles and wood were used to tie in our engagement story.
One thing you learned?
It goes by so fast, and you don't want to miss out on memories. There's no reason to become a bridezilla, it's fun. It's a party. It's a celebration of YOUR LOVE. Don't invite anyone you don’t think should be a part of your love.
